How to add Disqus to blog in 3 minutes

Disqus is a blog commenting platform that provides comment services to thousands of sites. It’s easy to sign up and easy to install.  Disqus will manage all your comments and provide a moderation services as well. Many well-known sites are using Disqus. So you need to have a Disqus account in order to comment as well (you can also comment anonymously as well).

So, today I am going to share with you people a step by step tutorial to add Disqus commenting system to your blog. So are you guys ready? let’s begin it.

First you need to create an account on Disqus. So go to to setup your account. Click on sign up. You can sign up either by google, twitter, facebook or through your email account. Enter the details and click on sign up. You see a welcome screen, click on “let’s go” button, choose channels based on your interest and on your blog niche.  Next step is to select any article based on your interest. This is just a formality to complete the steps, nothing to worry about.

You can modify your personal details from your profile settings.

Now click on gear button at top right corner.  You can add the avatar or personal details on your profile by selecting edit profile option.

To add Disqus on a blog, click on gear as you did earlier then click on “Add Disqus To Site”. A new window about engage will open.  Press “Start Using Engage” button to continue. Now fill the form by entering the site name, unique Disqus URL which will be automatically generated, you can change it as well, and the category of the blog. Click on finish registration to complete registration.

Next step is to integrate the Disqus in a blog. Select the platform which you are using. For example, if you are using blogger then select blogger. Next screen will show the further process. Click on the first button that is “Add {site name} to bloggers site”. In next step (new window) if you have more than one blog then select the desired blog and click on add widget. This is done.

You can also do this by using the universal code. Click on universal code option and copy the code on your site.

Now come back to the previous window. Click on Tool>Import to import your previous comments to Disqus. To do one-time import click on the first option saying “Import comments from Blogger”, or for regular import of new comments select the “Enable Syncing” option. It will synchronize the blogger comments with Disqus.

Now the last step is to update your blogger templates meta tag for full Internet Explorer compatibility. To do this login to your blogger account, select the blog, click on template then on edit template. Click in your template code anywhere the press Ctrl + F to find box, find the following code

<meta content=’IE=EmulateIE7′ http-equiv=’X-UA-Compatible ‘/>

And replace it with

<meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”IE=9; IE=8; IE=7; IE=EDGE; chrome=1″ />

Click on save template to save changes.
